NOTICE OF POSITION

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the internal position of:
 

Division of Multilingual Education /Multilingual Support Teachers

10 HOURS OF PLANNING:
Location: Virtual Teams Meetings
Time: 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Dates: TBD
SEVEN 1/200TH SATURDAYS
Locations: TBD (IN PERSON)
Time: 8:15 am -3:30 pm
Days: OCTOBER 19, OCTOBER 26, NOVEMBER 2, APRIL 26, MAY 3, MAY 10, MAY 17

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid teaching certificate in: English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, World Language Teachers, English Teachers (5-12), or Elementary Education and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured or probationary teacher. Teachers who have previously worked in the Multilingual Support Program will be given preference. Teachers will create lesson plans for students, and presentations for families utilizing approved district curriculum, supplementing with supervisor’s approval. Teachers are expected to tutor students in English and reading in a positive and affirming environment and provide information and presentations for parents.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of a Multilingual administrator:

  • Instructing students on basic English and reading skills using differentiated strategies and approaches appropriate for Multilingual Learners.
  • Provide instruction on three Saturdays to students.
  • Prepare lessons for students utilizing curriculum provided, and supplementing when needed with supervisor’s approval.
  • Outside planning time will take place prior to the tutoring sessions.
  • Create presentations for parents and present these during the Saturday events.
  • Teachers must work the program's duration.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointments will be made by the Division of Multilingual Education who will select the candidates that best meet the requirements of the recruitment bulletin.
