NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION
CENTRAL CHAIR / HELPING TEACHER - DAILY
SPECIAL EDUCATION PLACEMENT OFFICE

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have New York State permanent teacher certification in Special Education and have 3-5 years of successful classroom experience in an urban school district. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screenshot of their certifications. A minimum of 3 years experience as a CSE Chair is preferred. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations on Special Education and extensive knowledge of Individual Education Program development. Candidates should have experience with Frontline IEP including maintaining and accessing reports and listings. Experience in customer service, training, and writing technical documents is preferred.

DATES: JULY/AUGUST 2024 Number of days TBD
DUTIES:
The Committee on Special Education Chairperson responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Obtaining Special Education records from other districts (in state and out of state/country)
- Interpret Special Education Services based off of these IEPs to determine similarity of need
- Provide placement information to students and families
- Complete placements based off of services recommended by the Committee on Special Education
- Use internal data systems to update pertinent information
- Communicate with special education administrators, school building administrators and parents
- Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interview shall be scheduled where appropriate.
