NOTICE OF POSITION
 
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the
position of:
 
MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT SUPPORT TEACHER (TOSA)

             for the Gates Foundation Effective Implementation Grant – Grade 6

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be tenured Buffalo Public School teachers, have at least five years of appropriate and approved teaching experience, and must hold New York State certification in Mathematics and/or Elementary Education. Candidates possessing ONLY NYS Elementary Education certification must have a minimum of 18 hours of credited mathematics courses, of which 9 credits must be mathematics content. Please upload a copy of your NYS certification(s).  Ensure that your name is visible, as well as your certification area(s). We will accept a screenshot from your NYS Teach account or you can upload using the physical document. The candidate must possess thorough knowledge of the Common Core/Next Generation, excellent organizational skills, demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and have the capability to provide adult professional development and classroom
support. Proficiency in the use of technology is required.


DUTIES:
Responsibilities include:
    • Guiding and assisting teachers and administrators in the implementation of Grade 6 district mathematics programs;
    • Guiding and assisting teachers with unpacking the Common Core/Next Generation Learning Standards;
    • Assisting with the rollout of mathematics content professional development;
    •  Planning, facilitating and supporting grade level meetings and on-going professional development;
    • Collaborating with, guiding and assisting teachers in the implementation of best teaching practices and use of instructional technology;
    • Designing, planning and facilitating professional development on the Common Core/Next Generation Learning Standards, use of math curriculum, and math instruction;
    • Guiding and assisting teachers in the implementation of valid and reliable assessment tools;
    • Assisting teachers with reviewing and analyzing student data, to assist in determining appropriate student interventions and necessary program modifications;
    • Assisting with the development of action plans, based on data, and supporting this implementation;
    • Guide and support Math Coaches and Support Math Teachers;
    • Support the work on mathematics curriculum;
    • Maintain and update mathematics department website;
    • Support teacher use of Zearn, Moby Max
    •  Guiding and assisting teachers with the incorporation of technology into their lesson facilitation and assessment practice;
    •  Creating, monitoring, and closing out PGS courses;
    •  Professional Development planning, preparation, set-up, etc.;
    • Other duties as assigned by Mathematics Department.


APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. This appointment will be processed as “temporarily assigned” to the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.

SALARY: Teachers’ salary schedule.
