NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee members for the following committee to serve as needed from June 2025 – June 2027
Grades 7 and 8
Spanish Home Language Arts Curriculum Committee
June 2025 – June 2027

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State teacher certification, be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured teacher and have knowledge of the Next Generation Learning Standards ELA, the Blueprint for English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner (ELL/MLL) Success and Academic Linguistics Demands (HLA). Candidates must ALSO be either currently teaching Spanish Home Language Arts, Spanish World Language: one or working as Special Education Bilingual teacher or teaching or working as a department TOSA. The candidate must be bilingual – English /Spanish.
DUTIES:
Curriculum committees will work directly with the Division of Multilingual Education and/or curriculum administrators. Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a mandated time frame. Assignments include but are not limited to developing frameworks and relevant content for Spanish Home Language Arts to align with Grades 7 and 8 ELA Next Generation Learning Standards ELA, the Blueprint for English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner (ELL/MLL) Success and Academic Linguistics Demands (HLA). Committee members will participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills required to fulfill responsibilities of related committee work.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
