NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have at least five years of appropriate and approved teaching experience and must hold New York State certification in Science -Biology (Dual certification in Biology and Earth science preferred if all things equal). The candidate must possess thorough knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), excellent organizational skills, demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and have the capability to provide adult professional development and classroom support. Proficiency in the use of technology is required.

DUTIES:

Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching AIS classes
  • Pulling small groups of students and pushing into classrooms to provide targeted instruction and interventions.
  • Guiding and assisting teachers and administrators in the implementation of district Science programs;
  • Guiding and assisting teachers with unpacking and understanding NYSSLS;
  • Guiding and assisting teachers with planning lessons, in co-teaching models, by modeling lessons, etc.
  • Guiding and assisting teachers/teacher teams with planning for AIS lessons, by modeling good practice/structures for small groups, with planning and implementing AIS stations, etc
  • Collaborating with, guiding, and assisting teachers in the implementation of best teaching practices and use of instructional technology;
  • Designing, planning, and facilitating professional development on the use of science curriculum and science instruction;
  • Guiding and assisting teachers in the implementation of valid and reliable assessment tools;
  • Assisting teachers with reviewing and analyzing student data to assist in determining appropriate student interventions and necessary program modifications;
  • Assisting with the development of action plans based on data, and supporting this implementation
  • Intensively monitoring science programs, strategies, and materials for students who are performing below grade level;
  • Coordinating schoolwide Regents readiness systems, including diagnostics, intervention group formation, progress monitoring, tutoring plans, and data reviews
  • Supporting the use of technology (curriculum online resources, etc.)
  • Building teacher capacity through coaching and professional learning
  • Other duties as assigned by the Science Department or building Principal.
 

APPOINTMENT:
An appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following assessment of
training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. This appointment will be processed as “temporarily assigned” to the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.
