NOTICE OF POSITION



POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

DISTRICT SUPPORT TEACHER (TOSA)
Assigned to the Division of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be tenured Buffalo Public School teachers, have at least five years of appropriate and approved teaching experience, and must hold New York State secondary teaching certification. Please upload a copy of your NYS certification(s). Ensure that your name is visible, as well as your certification area(s). We will accept a screenshot from your NYS Teach account or you can upload using the physical document. The candidate must possess thorough knowledge of the Common Core/Next Generation, excellent organizational skills, demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and have the capability to provide adult professional development and classroom support. Proficiency in the use of technology is required.

 

DUTIES:
Responsibilities include:

  • Support the work of various curriculum initiatives, including but not limited to: Model UN, Debate Competitions, Mock Trial, the BPS Theater Program, Kleinhans Kids-Connection Music Concerts, and the Richmond Speaking Contest.

    o Managing list of Model UN, Mock Trail and Debate advisers and students

    o Preparing and facilitating adviser training

    o Coordinating bus transportation for events and collecting extra - activity forms

    o Supporting the implementation of the following arts programs:

    o Musical Theater Productions for grades 9-12

    o Dance, Movement & Meditation Integration for grades K-6

    o Cultural Expansion & Exploration in Dance & Theater

     
  • Collaborating with, guiding and assisting teachers in the implementation of best teaching practices, district approved programs and use of instructional technology;
     
  • Assisting with the rollout of professional development;
     
  • Assisting teachers with reviewing and analyzing student data;
     
  • Maintaining and updating the CAI website;
     
  • Monitoring of strategies, materials, curriculum and instructional program to ensure that they are appropriate and relevant;
     
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of CAI.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. This appointment will be processed as “temporarily assigned” to the position. All temporary assignments end not later than June 30 and must be processed each year.
