                                                                       NOTICE OF POSITION

 POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualification for candidates must include a Bachelor’s degree in Education; a Master’s degree in Special Education or related field; and be NYS certified in Special Education. Additional certifications in general education curriculum areas are encouraged.  
 
EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must have completed a minimum of five years of approved and appropriate experience teaching students with disabilities with current contract status.   Experience and formal training in Special Education is required.   Knowledge of research based instructional strategies, especially those related to specially designed instruction, literacy, and progress monitoring needed.   Candidates must also have knowledge of the process required to write, implement and progress monitor, Quality IEPs and Behavioral Intervention plans.     Excellent oral and written language skills required. Must have computer skills (email, power point, word processing, excel, etc.)  Experience in providing professional development in the educational setting a must. 


DUTIES:
The Special Education School Improvement Specialist (SESIS) will conduct training and provide technical assistance to special education teachers in the district on a variety of topics that include but are not limited to Specially Designed Instruction, behavioral interventions, progress monitoring and the education of students with disabilities. The Special Education School Improvement Specialist (SESIS) must be available to provide professional development during afterschool hours, weekends and/or summer months.
 
Other responsibilities include:
  • Conducting needs assessments and walk throughs in schools
  • Developing Quality Improvement Plans for schools
  • Creating and presenting trainings on topics relevant to the field of special education
  • Fulfilling reporting and program evaluation requirements
  • Creating Courses in PGS
  • Managing PGS rosters
  • Presenting on Superintendent’s Conference Days
  • Attending professional development opportunities related to district initiatives/programs
  • Other tasks deemed necessary and appropriate
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education based upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.


SALARY:                  Teacher’s salary schedule.
