NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Darren J. Brown, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates
for the position of:
SUPERVISOR OF RELATED SERVICES FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree and permanent NYS certification in Special Education or NYS certification
or Buffalo certifications as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped and hold a New York State School District
Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certificate or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) or a School
Building Leader (SBL) certificate. The candidate must have experience in the area of special education compliance for
related services and must be proficient with IEP Direct and the use of data to evaluate programs. Strong organizational
and communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments, agencies,
and community leaders is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the Supervisor of Related Services will be responsible for, but
not limited to the following:
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment
of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews will be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Administrator salary schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the Supervisor of Related Services will be responsible for, but
not limited to the following:
- Working with the Director of Special Education to supervise and evaluate Related Services staff including: OT, PT Board and Vendors, Speech, Vision, Hearing Teachers, Audiologist and Assistive Technology Speech Pathologist.
- Running bi-weekly reports on related service programs for: BPS, Charter Schools and Agencies and Non-Public Schools.
- Knowing the related service data and being prepared to provide updates including: numbers of students, staff employed, Charter, Agency and non-Public compliance information.
- Monitoring the implementation of related services to meet the State and Federal reimbursement guidelines.
- Notifying the Director of Special Education about all issues / concerns related to IEP and 504 compliance.
- Attending weekly meetings with Special Education Department and routinely sharing compliance data.
- Working with the designated Director of Special Education, starting Jan. 1st each year, to implement the District ESY program including selecting and confirming sites, maintaining outcome data, communicating with District staff & parents, and managing the ordering of curriculum materials.
- Managing the Medicaid Reimbursement processes for BPS, Non-public and Charter school students.
- Working with the Director of Special Education to negotiate vendor contracts for OT and PT to meet the requirements for bidding, interviewing and reviewing applicants in conjunction with the Purchase Department, Legal Department and Board of Education.
- Other duties as assigned.
