                                                                              NOTICE OF POSITION
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, seeks highly motivated, transformational leaders for the position of Principal Coach. The Principal Coach, during school year 2016-17, will assist with principal leadership development, instructional program improvement, modeling effective administrative techniques and proper implementation of District policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent teacher’s certificate and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), or School Building Leader (SDL) Certificate.

EXPERIENCE:
Candidates must be a current BCSA Principal or Central Office Administrator, with eight years combined teaching and administrative experience, and must be tenured in their current position, or are retired BCSA Principals or Central Office Administrators, who had a minimum of eight years combined teaching and administrative experience, and held tenure in their position at the time of retirement.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Principal Coaches are responsible for the following: 
  • Under the direction of the Associate Superintendents of School Leadership, coach elementary, middle, and secondary principals before and after regular work hours.
  • Provide leadership coaching to principals of SIG/SIG Eligible/Receivership Schools, with alignment to the District’s New Educational Bargain, 6-8 hours per month. Hours will include face-to-face meetings supported by phone conferences and emails.
  • Be trained in the style of New York City Leadership Academy’s (NYCLA) facilitated, competency-based, coaching methodology, including two separate trainings totaling one and a half days.
  • Adhere to the coaching model, anchored in competencies, and oriented toward building independence on the part of the coachee.
  • Be required to attend bimonthly meetings with the Associate Superintendents of School Leadership.
  • Ensure coaching is informed by priorities and accountability measures of the District and New York State.
  • Ensure a safe place is created between the coach and the coachee which lends itself to vulnerability and encourages authentic feedback.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding the balance of the coach/coachee relationship which supports coachees constructing their own knowledge, engaging in their own learning-based needs in their school, drawing out the coach’s expertise, leveraging learning from within coachees, and using knowledge of adult learning to inform coaching.
  • Continuously diagnose the needs of the school and coachee while anchoring diagnosis in goals and competencies.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
                                   
SALARY:                      $10,000 Stipend
