QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, a New York State School Attendance teacher certification, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL), or School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of New York State Laws §3214, 3204, 3202, 3205, 3209, 3210,3215,3216, New York State Uniform Rules for the Family Court (Part 205), Uniform Rules For The City Courts Outside The City Of New York (Part 206), and FERPA. Candidates must have three years of approved and appropriate experience in a pupil personnel services tenure area. Candidates with experience in school counseling, school psychology, social work, and special education are encouraged to apply.
DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Conducting Superintendent’s long-term suspension hearings and Student Guidance Conferences
- Serving as a consultant to schools on student behaviors that may result in suspension
- Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of dropout prevention, attendance improvement and youth development programs.
- Working collaboratively with BPS liasions to City and Family Courts
- Providing training to increase student attendance rates to attendance teachers, school counselors, School Support Teams, Community Education Leaders, and school administrators.
- Serving as liaison with the following District partners to increase student attendance rates: Say Yes, Erie I BOCES staff, Attendance Works staff, City of Buffalo personnel and Mayor’s office, Erie County Family Court personnel, Erie County Department of Social Services staff, Buffalo City Court staff, Read to Succeed Buffalo staff, United Way/Closing the Gap personnel, Community Action Organization, and Buffalo Neighborhood Block Clubs.
- Gathering, validating, analyzing, and disseminating various types of attendance and suspension data.
- Supervising and evaluating performance levels of Community Education Leaders (CELs) and Attendance Support Teachers.
- Other duties deemed necessary by the Director for Student Support Services for the successful operation of the department.
