POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelors and Master’s degree, be NYS certified in at least one of the following areas: Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and/or Special Education.  Must have thorough knowledge of common core learning standards and NYS professional development standards. Also, must have thorough knowledge of the data process and district initiatives.  Candidates must be permanent/contract Buffalo Public Schools employees who have completed five (5) years of approved and appropriate teaching experience. 
 
DUTIES:
The Mentor Teacher will be charged with the full time responsibility of working with newly hired district staff assigned to them to assist in the transition from their undergraduate training into formal classroom responsibilities. Job responsibilities will include modeling best practices, assistance in developing classroom management skills, lesson preparation, student and parent conferencing, skills development, facilitating training opportunities for their interns and assistance in curricular applications.  Candidates must be able to identify and facilitate reflective practice, have excellent knowledge of pedagogy and subject area content, maintain confidentiality of intern/mentor communications and assist new teachers in their adjustment to their new positions.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
 
SALARY:               Teacher’s salary schedule.
 
FUND #:               Title IIa – with annual NYSED approval Pending funding
