                                                                                                               NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee members for the following committee to serve as needed from:  October 2016-August 2019

                                                                                         CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MEMBER
                                                                                         TEACHERS OF SCIENCE GRADES 7-12

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State certification in the subject area of Science and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured teacher, have knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards and knowledge of application of scientifically-based research. Please upload a copy of your NYS certification(s). Ensure that your name is visible, as well as your certification area(s). We will accept a screenshot from your NYS Teach account or you can upload using the physical document.

DUTIES:

• Curriculum committees will work directly with subject area and/or curriculum administrators.
• Curriculum committee members must have taught Science 7-12 in the last two years.
• Preference will be given to teachers who are certified in the specific subject and have instructed that content subject, where the curriculum work needs to be completed.
  • Middle Level Science
  • Biology
  • Earth Science
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
• Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a mandated time frame. Assignments include but are not limited to evaluating instructional materials and developing pertinent curriculum documents aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards.
• Committee members will participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills required to fulfill responsibilities of related committee work.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following as training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.


SALARY: Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
