NOTICE OF POSITIONS

 
POSITION:                The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Amber Dixon, is interested
in receiving applications from qualified candidates for Grades 7 & 8 summer school
teaching positions:
                                               
ELA, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, SPECIAL EDUCATION, LIBRARY,
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY COACHES, ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL),
NATIVE LANGUAGE ARTS (NLA)

 
3, 39, 43, 74, 93, 94 & 131@44
(Locations subject to change based upon site availability.)


Staff hours:                  8:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Student hours:              8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
                                               
Classes to be held:       July 9 – August 3, 2012
 
APPLICATION:        Candidates must complete an application form available on the
District website, www.buffaloschools.org.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure
area for which they are applying to teach.
 
EXPERIENCE:          Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified
permanent/tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order
of summer school seniority.
 
DUTIES:                     Summer school teachers will offer high quality instruction to
students in their content area.  Teachers will regularly monitor student progress and
keep records of all assessments and strategies used.
 
Paid teacher preparation day is July 6, 2012 (3 hour session). Successful candidates
are encouraged to attend.
                                                                                                                                                               
APPOINTMENT:       Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the
recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of summer school
seniority, training, credentials,and evaluation of service.  Interviews shall be
scheduled where appropriate.
 
SALARY:                   Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract.
