NOTICE OF POSITIONS
POSITION: The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Amber M. Dixon, is interested in
receiving applications from qualified candidates for summer school teaching positions:
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) TEACHERS
Location(s) to be determined
Full day classes to be held : July 9 – August 3, 2012 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm
APPLICATION: Candidates must complete an application form by clicking the

QUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in ESL.
Priority will be given to qualified permanent/tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo
Public School teachers, in order of summer school seniority.
DUTIES: To assist newly arrived Limited English Proficient (LEP) students with
preliteracy skills, acculturation, and skill development in literacy in preparation for
September. The program will provide service to LEP students who arrived in the
2011-2012 school year or who are at the beginning level of English proficiency,
And who need additional support to prepare them for the upcoming school year.
PLEASE NOTE: Two paid Teacher Orientation Sessions will be scheduled in
June 2012. Each session will last 2 hours and will be held after school. Successful
candidates are encouraged to attend. Also, a paid teacher preparation session is
scheduled for July 6, 2012 (3 hour session). Successful candidates
are encouraged to attend.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE: Please review the schedule carefully and list your preference for
employment. For the benefit of the students and continuity of the program,
teachers are expected to serve the full term of the program chosen. If you
cannot commit to the entire program, you may apply to work as a replacement teacher
for absent teachers.
APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the
recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of summer school seniority,
training, credentials and evaluation of service. Interviews shall be scheduled where
appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher rate based on BTF contract.
