POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for teaching position of:
 
                                                       
INSTRUCTIONAL COACH – LAFAYETTE SCHOOL (phase-out/in)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and NYS teacher certification in any core subject area (i.e. Elementary, Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Special Education, ESL). Candidates must have a minimum of three years of teaching and/or coaching experience in an urban setting. S/he must be able to demonstrate an understanding of ability to develop a strong collegial and collaborative relationship with individual and groups of teachers. S/he must be able and willing to create an active learning environment for teachers and students. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with adults.
 
EXPERIENCE:
In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in best practices within integrated core area classes, data – driven instruction, understanding of the Common Core Standards, knowledge of co – teaching models, demonstration of effective coaching techniques, and delivery of professional development. Candidates must have strong experience in technology skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, Infinite Campus, NYSTART, and web based applications.
 
 
DUTIES:         Under the direction of the school administrative team, the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
  • Collaborate with the data coach to assist teachers in using data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Assist teachers with standards – based lesson planning.
  • Assist teachers with delivery of best practices within integrated core area classes.
  • Provide job – embedded support to teachers through data analysis, one – to – one coaching, modeling lessons, and co – teaching models using ESL strategies.
  • Provide feedback to teachers through data – driven dialogue and coaching techniques.
  • Collaborate with building administrators to plan and facilitate learning opportunities during common planning time.
  • Guide and assist teachers in learning about research – based instructional strategies that are direct, explicit, systematic, and designed for English language development and academic attainment in content area classes, and the implementation of these learned strategies in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with data coach to provide annual, monthly, or weekly reports for teachers and building administrators during common planning time.
  • Collaborate with the building administrators and instructional leadership team to plan professional development trainings.
  • Deliver school and district selected professional development related to the effective instruction.
  • Assisting building administrators, SBMT/CET, and PTO in implementing special initiatives that support the school programs and with parents regularly and effectively (in the home language to the extent possible).
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
