NOTICE OF POSITION

 

 

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

Curriculum Developer/Instructor: All Male Saturday Academy & After School Program

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid NYS teaching certificate and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools. Candidates must also hold a valid certification in Literacy, Elementary Education, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Special Education, Physical Education, Health, Spanish, Art, MUSIC, TESOL, CTE, Library Services, Attendance or School Counselor or serve as an Instructional Technology Coach.

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of African American History and Culture and/or Latin American History and Culture and a willingness to receive professional development in these areas.

The program will run from October 16, 2017 – April 1, 2018 in after school programs and Saturday Academies at the following schools: #3, #30, #37, MST@#39, #76, #89, and #97

Responsibilities:
Curriculum Developers/Instructors shall report to the Building Principal

The Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction to Plan, develop and deliver curriculum for the All Male Saturday Academies & Afterschool Programs which run October 16, 2017 through April 1, 2018;
  • Identify specific learning targets for each mini module;
  • Develop compendium of primary source documents, articles, book chapters which will be bound for student use
  • Guide students through highly engaging inquiry based learning experiences whereby they will be able to integrate their personal narratives with their respective historical and cultural contexts;
  • Integrate technology into the learning experience;
  • Collect qualitative data to measure program efficacy;
  • Manage instructional supplies
  • Chaperone students on local field trips that will expand student learning of topics.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and personal interview.

SALARY:      Contractual Rate for Curriculum Development and extended learning opportunities afterschool and on Saturdays.
