SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and have a New York State Education Department Social Work certification. A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience, with at least one (1) year experience working with an alternative education or community/school collaboration is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Social Worker will have the responsibility of, but not limited to:
- Establish an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image; working with students in Buffalo Public Schools.
- Process and facilitate on-going services for students with disabilities and their families social skill development, and educational opportunities.
- Act as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, psychologists, counselors, and other team members as required.
- Schedule and conduct home visitation conferences, obtain consents for students referred to the CSE and gather comprehensive social histories for students.
- Administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures, secure outside data needed to prepare for CSE meetings and perform classroom observations when needed.
- Work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling, offer strategies and support to parents, serve as a consultant to teachers and perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
