NOTICE OF  POSITION
 


POSITION:    The Superintendent of Schools, Pamela C. Brown, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for a part-time hourly position in the Adult Education Program for the 2013-2014 school year as:
 
                                              ADULT EDUCATION – CAREER ADVISOR  (DAY)
                                                                    PART TIME - HOURLY

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a New York State School Counseling Teaching
Certificate,
- or -
Bachelor’s Degree in area such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services from an accredited university.
                                                                  - and - 
An Adult Education Certificate or willing to obtain.  For NYS Adult Education certification, you will be required to take Child Abuse Reporting and SAVE workshops.
 
  - and -
                               New York State Cosmetology License preferred.
                                                                          
EXPERIENCE:          All candidates must have three (3) years of experience working in a counseling and/or social work background.  Candidates with familiarity with high school or out-of-school youth preferred.  Oral and written bilingual skills a plus.
                                                 
DUTIES:                     The Career Advisor will work one on one with students of different backgrounds and provide counseling and referral services as needed.  Must be able to implement the instructional program in career advisement following curriculum guidelines provided, NYS Standards/Goals, adhere to NRS Standards, evaluate students and instruction, utilize the database and prescriptive software systems currently available, and maintain accurate records.  Oral, written, and computer communication skills are essential.  Person must be flexible and have the ability to be a problem solver at any given point within the workday.  Ability to work well with people, maintain a positive attitude, and be a consistent team player vital.  Additional duties as needed.  Advisors must attend a minimum of 10 staff development hours by Employment Preparation Education (EPE) guidelines, and participate in the orientation course with Western New York Consortium Professional Staff Development.
 
APPOINTMENT:       Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate. All Adult Education assignments are temporary, will end no later that June 30th and must be processed each year.
 
SALARY:                   Hourly Teacher Salary Schedule.
