                                                     NOTICE OF POSITION
 
POSITION:      
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Donald Ogilvie, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
 
                                    Project Administrator II – Information Technology

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, a permanent New York State teaching certificate, and a New York State School District
Administrator Certificate (SDA or SAS or SDL or SBL). It is highly preferable that the candidate have at least 5 years of teaching experience as well
as practical experience and coursework directly related to school/instructional technology.
Candidates must have completed five years of approved and appropriate teaching in Buffalo Public Schools or a similar school
district. It is desired that the candidate’s teaching experience include direct involvement with instructional technology. Candidates
must also have prior experience in an administrative or district-wide organizational capacity, preferably in the area of education
and/or educational technology.
 
DUTIES:                    
Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Instructional Technology, essential duties and responsibilities of the
Project Administrator II of Instructional Technology include but are not limited to:

  • Provide hands-on management of critical and time-sensitive Information Technology projects.
  • Provide leadership in planning for future technology initiatives.
  • Provide support for District preparation and implementation of Computer Based Testing (CBT) program.
  • Support current implementation of District technology including but not limited to: instructional software and hardware, course specific software, library systems software, virtualization, website software, interactive whiteboards, and other future hardware, software, and web tools adopted based on identified needs.
  • Plan for and manage hardware and software refresh and upgrade for all Buffalo Public Schools.
  • Maintain current knowledge of District IT budgets and technology inventories.
  • Analyze and report on instructional technology related programs in regards to overall effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Coordinate with District department and committees (Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction, Plant, Budget, Human Resources) and other committees as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and conferences and participate in other activities to promote professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     
          Leadership in Vision and Planning For District Technology
 
  • Development and implementation of instructional technology programs to support the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • Point person for District’s technology planning committee for the creation and execution of the District Technology Plan.
  • Participation in State-wide development and roll out of Computer Based Testing (CBT) program.
  • Oversight over technology projects relating to school reconstruction in collaboration with Operations Department.
  • Plan for and manage hardware and software refresh/upgrade for all Buffalo Public Schools.
  • Design and implementation of NYS Learning Technology Grant program (2009-2012, 2012-2015).
  • Collaboration and leadership for installation, training and integration into instruction of Interactive Whiteboards in all Buffalo classrooms.
  • Participated in the introduction and design of Desktop Virtualization and Thin Client Computing.
  • Implementation of multiple Assessment Management Systems.
  • Supervision of District Instructional Technology Coach Staff.
  • Supervision over District-contracted Desktop Support Staff.
     
    Budget, Grants, and Special Projects Management
     
  • Preparation, oversight and management of District instructional hardware and software budgets.
  • Management of numerous Federal and New York State technology grants.
  • Collaboration with several departments to manage funding, implementation and compliance with the Federal E-Rate
    Program.
     
     
    Professional Development Leadership
     
  • Assess needs, create, and implement a wide variety of professional development opportunities. Examples of recent professional development activities.
  • Interactive Whiteboard Integration Into Instruction.
  • District Wide Teacher Laptop Implementation.
  • Technology Integration Through District Web-based Tools, Apps, and Web Applications.
  • Getting to Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) Through 21st Century Skills.
  • Mobile device integration, including iPads, Android, and Windows 8 tablets.
  
          Network Infrastructure and Security
 
  • Collaboration and Implementation of initial District-wide Pervasive Wireless Network.
  • Liaison to WNYRIC for District Internet content filter.
  • Collaborate with BOCES staff on design, configuration, and maintenance of current District data network.
 
 
APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent following assessment of
training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where necessary and/or appropriate.
 
SALARY:                   Project Administrator II salary schedule.
