                                                                       NOTICE OF POSITION

 POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education, NYS Permanent Certification as a School Counselor, and have a minimum of three (3) years experience as a High School Counselor.
 
DUTIES:
This position will be under the Division of Student Support Services, within the Department of Guidance & Counseling Services.  Individual will work with the Director of Guidance & Counseling Services: Duties include:
 
            College and Career Readiness
  • Assist with the implementation of a Career and College Readiness Plan
  • Assist with developing an infrastructure for a college and career readiness culture throughout the district
  • Assist with the coordination of several district partnerships including High School Showcase, CAO/Education Task Force College Day, NACAC College fair, University at Buffalo Law day
  • Assist with developing a scholarship guide for students and parents
  • Assist with ensuring that school counselors have access to student targeted college readiness materials
  • Collaborate with the Office of Parent and Family Engagement to present to parents about college and career readiness processes
     
    Counselor Support
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the District Guidance Plan
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Three Year Plan
  • Assist with identifying and facilitating the participation of counselor staff in professional development experiences to enhance job related knowledge and skills
  • Provide training to counselors on the use of the district’s student information system and the planning and delivery of services to students
  • Prepare career education and instructional materials for use by counselors and students
     
    Administrative
  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring of highly qualified school counselors
  • Assist parents upon request with strategies to support the academic success of their children
  • Assist with designing, implementing and evaluating the district-wide guidance and counseling program
  • Develop and provide information and materials related to career/college opportunities for high school students
  • Possesses a exemplary knowledge of College admission requirements, financial aid requirements, and training necessary for future careers
  • Partner with collegiate Graduate Schools of Education to place school counseling interns and practicum candidates
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Student Support Services
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education based upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service.  Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.


SALARY:                  Teacher’s salary schedule.
