NOTICE OF POSITION



POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

Division of Multilingual Education:  

 1/200th DAYS 

Time: 8:50 am – 4:05 pm 

Days: JULY 1, JULY 2, JULY 3: PREP DAYS 

SET-UP DAYS: JULY 8, JULY 9 

STUDENT DAYS: JULY 10-AUGUST 8 

CLEAN OUT HALF DAY: AUGUST 9

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid teaching certificate in English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education, Elementary Education, Reading, or Science and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured or probationary teacher. Teachers will create lesson plans for students, and presentations for families utilizing the approved district curriculum, supplementing with the supervisor’s approval. Teachers are expected to tutor students in English and reading in a positive and affirming environment and provide information and presentations for parents. *Preference will be given to those who have prior experience with the Multilingual Support Teachers Afghan program AND who have experience as a Science Coordinator. * 


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates STEAM activities and lessons
  • Instructing students on basic English and reading skills using differentiated strategies and approaches appropriate for Multilingual Learners.
  • Provide instruction on twenty-five consecutive weekdays for students during July and August.
  • Plans and Prepare lessons for students utilizing the curriculum provided, and supplementing when needed with supervisor’s approval.
  • STEAM Coordinator must work the program's duration.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Superintendent following an assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
