NOTICE OF POSITIONS


POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications for qualified candidates for the following positions:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area for which they are applying to teach.  Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order of summer school seniority. Please upload a copy of your NYS certification(s). Ensure that your name is visible, as well as your certification area(s). We will accept a screenshot from your NYS Teach account or you can upload using the physical document.  Summer school seniority is defined as previous years of BPS summer employment in a classroom setting. Only current and active BPS employees earn summer school seniority. 

Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked in the program, are currently facilitating a Student Technology Leadership program, and/or are committed to facilitating a Student Technology Leadership program in their building during the 2026- 2027 School year. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with all district stakeholders. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong collaborative, team-oriented, and flexible approach to partnered work. 


EXPERIENCE:

In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in instructional technology, digital environments, and creation of content for online learning. Additionally, candidates should possess awareness of current educational technology initiatives including 1:1 computing, digital citizenship, cybersecurity, coding, robotics, video editing, etc.  The candidate should also possess: 
  • Demonstrable track record of promoting teamwork and leadership skills 
  • Knowledge and understanding of “soft skills” necessary for successful employment 
  • Understanding of the appropriate uses of learning management systems and social media in K-12 education 
  • Knowledge and facility in the use of multiple pedagogical techniques for addressing the needs of various learners including Special Education Students and ELLs 
  • Proven ability to foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving 
  • Commitment to following and enforcing BPS, Federal and State policies, procedures and regulations as they relate to Instructional Technology 
  • Experience in planning, leading and facilitating professional development opportunities with a variety of stakeholders 

 

DUTIES:     
The STL Program Mentor may be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

 
  • Effectively train interns to do various job tasks and provide ongoing support as needed
  • Assess the difficulty of tasks and assign student interns to tasks at which they can be successful
  • Monitor student interns on an on-going basis to ensure that their task assignment is appropriate and completed
  • Assist students in taking on leadership roles
  • Effectively train interns to present to BPS staff and parents and provide ongoing support as needed
  • Manage job deadlines in compliance with the established schedule
  • Ensure that the internship is a meaningful learning experience for student interns
  • Monitor and evaluate intern's progress and provide relevant feedback
  • Keep ongoing records and documentation to prepare summative reports
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Summer School are eligible to work for ONLY ONE of the summer programs.


APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of summer school seniority, training, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service.   Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.

 

SALARY:               Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract/daily rate of 1/200th.
