NOTICE OF POSITION

 
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of curriculum committee members for the following committee to serve as needed from: May 2026 – May 2027
                                                

SOCIAL STUDIES/ LITERACY INFUSION INTO SOCIAL STUDIES K-6

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State certification in the subject area applied for, be currently employed with Buffalo Public Schools as a probationary, or tenured teacher, have at least 5 years’ experience in a Social Studies classroom at the K-8 level, in a reading / ELA classroom K-6, and/or serve as a literacy or instructional coach; and have knowledge of the New York State Social Studies Framework.

DUTIES:
  • Curriculum committee members will work directly with the Director of Social Studies.
  • Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a mandated time frame. Assignments include but are not limited to developing pertinent curriculum documents aligned to the New York State Social Studies Framework.
  • Committee members should be able to work evenings, Saturdays, and during the summer.
  • Committee members may be requested to participate in professional development to turnkey and provide support to their social studies colleagues.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.



SALARY:                Committee members will be paid at the contractual rate.
