NOTICE OF POSITION
 

 

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

CENTRAL COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION
SPEECH-LANGUAGE EVALUATOR (BILINGUAL)
BUFFALO PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a New York State certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Teacher of the Speech and Language Disabled (bilingual extension or certification preferred but not required). It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screenshot of their certifications. New York State Licensure and Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist is required. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence is preferred. Experience completing speech-language evaluations is preferred. Candidates must have knowledge of ASHA Scope and Practice of Speech-Language Pathology, Medicaid Regulations, and Federal and State Regulations pertaining to Speech-Language Pathology. Candidates must have application knowledge of various Speech-Language assessment tools. Candidates must also possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual candidates are preferred.


DUTIES:
The duties include, but will not be limited to:

  • Performing observations and consultations
  • Administering Speech-Language evaluations
  • Completing IEP Direct input
  • Writing reports required by the Committee on Special Education (CSE)
  • Assisting the CSE in the appropriate development and implementation of Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Inputting Medicaid billing into Kinney
  • May be required to attend CSE meetings and consult with other professional disciplines, vendors, parents, and school personnel
  • Completing other duties deemed necessary and appropriate.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials, and evaluation of experience. Personal Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
