NOTICE OF POSITION
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
SOCIAL WORKER– CENTRAL COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work and hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work Certification (LCSW) or a Licensed Master Social Work Certification (LMSW). A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability with a wide range of therapeutic modalities. This opportunity is open to internal candidates only.
LOCATION: Central Committee on Special Education – School #12/18A
DUTIES:
The Central Committee on Special Education Social Worker responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image
- Processing and facilitating services for students with disabilities and their families
- Social skill development
- Acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team
- Scheduling and conducting home visitation conferences
- Obtaining consents for students referred to the CSE/CPSE
- Conducting comprehensive social histories for students
- Administering adaptive and parental checklist measures including the gathering of data
- Performing classroom observations
- Conducting individual and/or group counseling
- Serving as a consultant to staff
- Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: Teacher's salary schedule.
