NOTICE OF POSITION


POSITION: The Superintendent, Dr. Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SST SOCIAL WORKER
SUMMER 2023

LOCATION: Subject to change according to needs of the district

Prek-6 Program: Schools 19, 27. 32, 33, 54, 80 94, 99

7-8 Program: Schools 6, 30, 67, 74, 81

9-12 Program: Locations TBD

SEE DATES FOR EACH PROGRAM:

PreK-6 program:
Professional Development/Set up: July 6th & July 77h (Full Days)
Instruction: July 10th – August 11th (Full Day)
Scoring/clean up: August 14th (Half day)

7/8 Program:
Professional Development/Set up: July 6th & 7th (Full Days)
Instruction: July 10th – August 11th (Full Days)
Scoring/clean up: August 14th (Half day)

9-12 Program:
Professional Development: July 10th and 11th (Full Day)
Instruction: July 12th – August 15th (Full Days)
Regents Exams: August- 16th & 17th (Full Days)
Scoring: August 18th -22nd or until all exams are scored

APPLICATION: Candidates who wish to be considered should complete an application on the Buffalo Schools website www.buffaloschools.org.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work. A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience as part of a CSE committee is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities.

DUTIES: The Social Worker will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • scheduling and conducting home visitation conferences
  • obtain consents for students referred to the CSE/CPSE
  • conduct comprehensive social histories for students.
  • administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures
  • interface with all Central CSE committees to ensure support is given to agency, district, pre-school, charter, non-pub, bilingual and placement offices.
  • provide support to parents registering their child for special education services at Central Registration.
  • offer strategies and support to parents
  • complete Counseling evaluations
  • perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.

APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interview shall be scheduled where appropriate.
