QUALIFICATIONS:
The Buffalo Public School District is seeking a Digital Media Specialist/Trainer to produce and edit BPS district video content and facilitate training for staff and students on best practices in digital media creation. The candidate must be a NYS certified teacher currently employed in the Buffalo Public Schools with contract status. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with all district stakeholders. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong collaborative, team-oriented, and flexible approach to partnered work. Candidate must have a strong technical background. Balancing a creative eye with an analytical mind is essential.
EXPERIENCE:
In evaluating each candidate’s qualifications, consideration will be given to the candidate’s coursework and experiences in web development, graphic design, communication via social media/digital environments, videography, video editing and creation of content for online learning.
The candidate should also possess:- Extensive experience with recording, editing, and final product video production
- Organization and maintenance of digital equipment
- Thorough knowledge of BPS curriculum and instructional models
- Understanding of the appropriate uses of digital resources, learning management systems and social media in K-12 education
- Knowledge and experience in the use of multiple staff development models and approaches
- Experience in planning, leading and facilitating staff development opportunities with a variety of stakeholders
- Knowledge and experience in the use of various forms of social media for promotional purposes
- Proven experience in website development including proficiency in using website management tools, Blackboard WCM or a similar product
- Working knowledge of ADA compliance regulations, web analytics, SEO, web standards, and district acceptable use policies
DUTIES:
The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for maintaining collections of videos, b-rolls, and photographs of staff and students that can be used in BPS marketing and advertising, for staff to create PowerPoint presentations, videos, Webpages, and print materials.
The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for BPS equipment inventory such as video equipment, projectors, digital cameras, and A/V equipment.
The Digital Media Specialist will prepare broadcasts, podcasts, and video announcements for district wide communications, record such events as interviews and sporting events for promotional or informational purposes, prepare sets, operate audio and video recording equipment, adjust lighting, and edit the finished product.
Additional duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Providing professional development on all facets of digital communication during the school day, curricular/common planning time meetings, when available after school, and on Saturdays

Collaboration with district administrators, building administrators, district, and building coaches in the planning for and facilitation of district and school-based professional development sessions

Coordination and preparation of the annual BPS calendar

Continuously developing and improving own capacity, and the capacity of others, to improve communication with various stakeholders through digital media

Maintaining a professional portfolio

Maintaining calendar and/or activity log to document activities as required

Attending district PLOs as directed
-
Design digital media campaigns and/or social media campaigns according to BPS district goals
-
Coordinate and manage the creation of digital content for use on BPS websites, blogs, podcasts
-
Promote BPS web presence
-
Work to improve BPS brand presence
-
Work with Web Team to maintain, design, and manage BPS digital media: infographics, videos etc.

Stay up-to-date with digital media technologies and latest trends
- Performing other duties as assigned
NOTE: This position may require assisting users after hours and/or on weekends
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certification, credentials and evaluation of service. Candidates will be asked to provide a digital portfolio including samples of work in web design and training/staff development. Template will be provided to qualified applicants. Special consideration will be given to those with experience in the position. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
