DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Resource cultural specialist plans and presents information relative to the heritage, culture and lifestyles of various cultural groups to students attending public school school system. Incumbents to this position researches information and coordinates the presentation with classroom teachers supplementing material into existing curriculum.
 

Typical Work Activities

Assists in the review and development of curriculum materials; Presents information relative to traditions, cultures and lifestyles of various cultural groups; Prepares and maintain lessons plans;

· Demonstrates arts and crafts.

· Assists students in the construction of housing community models.

· Maintains records of each presentation or project identifies students in need of supportive services; ie. tutoring and remedial work.

· Tutors students on academic subjects covered in classroom.

· Maintain records of tutorials sessions.

· Advises parents if students are having difficulty at school ie. academic / disciplinary.

· Acts as liaison between school and home/parents of students; Performs related work as required.

· Ability to present information clearly both orally and in writing.

· Ability to instruct students.

· Ability to get along well with others, good address.

· Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
 

Minimum Qualifications

· Graduation from school or its equivalent
