REMEDIAL SPEECH TEACHER

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for Remedial Speech.

Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Summer School are eligible to work for only one of the programs.

Please review the dates carefully. FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE STUDENTS AND CONTINUITY OF THE PROGRAM, TEACHERS ARE EXPECTED TO SERVE THE FULL TERM OF THE PROGRAM.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold New York State certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped or Teacher of the Speech and Language Disabled.

New York State Licensure and Registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist and ASHA certificate of Clinical Competence are preferred. Candidates must have knowledge of Medicaid Regulations, ASHA Scope and Practice of Speech-Language Pathology and Federal and State Regulations pertaining to Speech Pathology.

DUTIES:
Duties include but are not limited to, establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote effective communication and speech-language skills, facilitating on-going services for students with disabilities and conducting speech-language screening and evaluations. The Speech Teacher works cooperatively with school personnel, to accomplish the goals and objectives stated on IEP. The speech teacher plans, organizes and delivers the highest quality of speech-language services, monitors and evaluates student progress, maintains records and reports, enforces Board of Education policies, regulations, and rules, maintains school property and materials and performs any assigned duties as deemed necessary.
 

APPOINTMENT:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of summer school seniority, training, credentials, certifications and evaluation of service. Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.

 

SALARY:         Teacher hourly rate or daily based on BTF contract.
