NOTICE OF POSITION


POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:


COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION CHAIR/ HELPING TEACHER 
SCHOOL BASED MULTIPLE POSITIONS (BILINGUAL PREFERRED)

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have New York State permanent teacher certification in Special Education and have 3-5 years of successful classroom experience in an urban school district. It is preferred to have a minimum of 3 years experience chairing CSE meetings. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to Special Education and extensive knowledge of Individual Education Program development. Candidates should have experience with Frontline IEP including maintaining and accessing reports and listings. Experience in customer service, training and writing technical documents is preferred. 
It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.


LOCATION:    Committee on Special Education


DUTIES: The Committee on Special Education Chairperson responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize, implement and oversee all Central Committee on Special Education processes as outlined in Commissioner’s Regulations and Federal Law for timely and exemplary implementation
  • Verify that student responses to intervention are documented by staff prior to referral, monitor Individual Education Plan compliance and provide the administrators with solutions to compliance deficits
  • perform observations and testing as required by the Committee on Special Education
  • Assist the Committee on Special Education in the appropriate development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan
  • Use data systems to update pertinent information
  • Complete all related and necessary computer input
  • Communicate with special education administrators, parents, and Student Support Team members, as appropriate
  • Hold CSE meetings
  • Schedule meetings within compliance timelines
  • Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate

SALARY: Teacher salary schedule based on BTF contract
