NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
Supervisor of World Language

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL), School Building Leader (SBL), or Administrator certificate by the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a World Language and/or LOTE teacher certification. Candidates must have completed five years of approved and appropriate teaching and/or administrative experience. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience working with adult learners, and knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards for World Language, World Language Checkpoints (A, B, C), and NYSED World Language guidance/regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction, the Supervisor of World Language will be responsible for the following, but not be limited to:
- Supporting the full and ongoing implementation of the Buffalo Public Schools World Language Program (K-12).
- Oversee all K-12 World Language instructional programs supports and initiatives.
- Supports and oversite of the Seal of Biliteracy.
- Must provide schools and teachers with information, maintain handbook, provide training and participate on NYS Seal of Biliteracy task force.
- Assist with the organization and facilitation of staff development programs.
- Disseminate department and program information.
- Must have knowledge of and understand all NYSED regulations and requirements as they relate to World Languages.
- Support the development, and evaluation of all World Language instruction and programs to ensure congruency with the NYS Learning Standards for World Language.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the district’s professional learning opportunities and model the personal and professional expectations held for the district World Language personnel.
- Provide assistance and support to the elementary and secondary World Language teachers.
- Provide professional development to principals and assistant principals on use of curricular materials and sound instructional practices.
- Work cooperatively and collectively with principals, supervisors, lead teachers and classroom teachers to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools.
- Use data to improve instruction and provide professional development to staff on the effective use of data to improve instruction.
- Oversee the creation of formative and interim assessments.
- Work collaboratively with the BPS Office of Accountability as it relates to World Language Checkpoints (A, B, C) assessments.
- Assist in the training of coaches in the areas of instruction as it relates to world language content/curriculum.
- Evaluate staff and teachers, as assigned, in accordance with law, Board policy and contractual requirements.
- Have courageous conversations with teachers about growth areas in practice.
- Assist with the selection and assignment of World Language staff.
- Carry out other responsibilities as they may be assigned.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training, experience, credentials, evaluation of service, program needs, and personal interview.
SALARY: Per Administrator salary schedule
