POSITION:  
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:


Full-Time Alternate Instruction Teacher For Students In Grades 7-12 Who Are Suspended Long-Term

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be New York State certified in General Education preferably in Mathematics, or Special Education K-12 with dual certification in either Math, ELA, Science or Social Studies 7-12. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Facilitate virtual age/grade appropriate instructional lessons throughout the school day to students from multiple schools assigned by the suspended student’s regular classroom teacher(s).
  • Provide instruction to a group of students from multiple schools. 
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Record and take accurate attendance each day and submit attendance records as outlined in the Alternate Instruction Handbook. 
  • Where appropriate, use various learning materials and resources.
  • Utilize differentiated instructional methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of virtual learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant district technology to support instruction including but not limited to Schoology and Microsoft TEAMS.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development during lessons.
  • Accept and administer class work, homework, tests, and assignments to students and return completed assignments to regularly assigned teacher.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
  • Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
  • Establish virtual classroom rules and expected student behavior.
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians to monitor student participation.
  • Work collaboratively with Community Based Organizations to help students return to school prepared and in a state to succeed behaviorally, socially and academically.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.


APPOINTMENT:      
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of experience, qualifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
