NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tonja M. Williams Knight is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

Extended Learning Time - Afterschool Teacher
Location: Based upon need
Time: Based upon individual schools’ Afterschool program
Days: K-8 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
9-12 Monday - Thursday
*Applicants are only eligible for openings that do not interfere with school day position
*Candidates should apply internally at their assigned school first
*If there are no positions at current school, apply to this posting in order to be considered for an Afterschool program at another school

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid NYS teaching certification in: General Education, ENL, Special Education or content area and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools as a tenured, probationary or temporary teacher. Teachers will create lesson plans and utilize the curriculum provided to them, as well as supplement as needed with supervisors’ approval. Teachers are expected to provide support & positive interaction with students, administer pre and post assessments, maintain attendance, and as needed, communicate and provide information to parents on the progress of their child.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teachers will work under the supervision of the Building Administration:

  • Instructing students on grade-level coursework using differentiated strategies and approaches effectively in working with students needing academic support.
  • Provide instruction to Grades K – 12 students per the school afterschool program.
  • Prepare lessons for students using the curriculum provided by the school Administrator.
  • Outside planning time will be necessary
  • Teachers will be required to work for the duration of the program
  • Attend mandatory training after school when necessary.
 
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the building principals who will select the candidates that best match the recruitment bulletin and the after-school program description.
