NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION:

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja M. Williams, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and New York State certification in Mathematics or Elementary Education, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Mathematics. Teacher certification must include Pre-Kindergarten. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Candidates must have three years of teaching and/or coaching experience in an urban school district. Pre-Kindergarten experience is strongly recommended. Candidates must participate in Professional Learning Opportunities. The candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults. Proficiency in the use of technology and knowledge of the Common Core Standards and assessments are also preferred.


DUTIES:

Responsibilities include:

  • Guiding and assisting pre-kindergarten teachers in the full and ongoing implementation of district math programs.
  • Guiding and assisting pre-kindergarten teachers in the implementation of the Common Core/Next Generation Learning Standards.
  • Guiding and assisting pre-kindergarten teachers in the implementation of valid and reliable assessment tools and planning related professional development.
  • Collaborating with pre-kindergarten teachers in the implementation of instructional strategies that are standards-based.
  • Intensively monitoring mathematics programs, strategies and materials for students who are performing below grade level.
  • Reviewing and analyzing student diagnostic screening, and progress data, as well as outcome assessment data, to assist in determining appropriate student interventions and necessary program modifications.
  • Work with teachers to prepare materials for Building Blocks Math for Pre-K lessons;
  • Administering and analyzing math screenings and diagnostic measures;
  • Reviewing and analyzing student diagnostic, screening, progress monitoring and outcome assessment data to assist in determining appropriate interventions and necessary program modifications;
  • Assisting in the development of action plans and supporting this implementation based on data;
  • Providing professional development for teachers at grade level meetings, superintendent conference days, etc.;
  • Continuous learning regarding scientifically researched-based best practices in math instruction;
  • Modeling district math initiatives in classrooms;
  • Attending district professional development;
  • Works collaboratively with building principals and staff in developing and implementing intervention systems and professional development.
  • Use data to assist teachers in planning – assisting in grade level and departmental meetings.
  • Match instructional support materials to the needs of students.
  • Assists in setting up systems for communication and cooperation of the entire professional staff in implementing district programs.
  • Maintains inventory of program materials and orders approved materials for school use.
  • Communicates and supports teachers and community-based organizations
  • Provide content knowledge and resources to staff about learning and teaching core content areas –including:
  • teaching strategies; when using Building Blocks Math
  • Daily schedule
  • Whole group instruction
  • Small group instruction
  • Learning areas
  • Collaborating with department administrators and coaches.
