POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications for qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must hold a master’s degree, a NYS certificate in teaching, or in a pupil personnel service area (Attendance, School Counselor, School Psychologist, School Social Worker)
- At least five years of experience within NYS certified area
- Candidates must possess and have demonstrated strong organizational and collaboration skills, as well as communication skills, both written and oral.
- Preferred candidates with prior background in:
- Supporting mental health, social-emotional learning, and addressing overall wellness needs of youth and adults.
- Multi-tiered System of Support

- Creating Positive School culture and climate
- Trauma Informed Care

DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Social Emotional and Wellness Supports and the Project Administrator II- Project Prevent, the Coordinator of Project Prevent will have responsibility in assisting with day-to-day management and execution the US Dept of Education Project Prevent Grant Award (PACE Buffalo) with roles and responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Facilitating and connecting students and families to programs and services which address the mental, social, and emotional needs of students and families.
- Being responsive to students presenting at-risk behaviors that might lead to student crisis.
- Duties require the employee to function at school, in the student's home, and in the community
- Ensure the achievement of grant goals and objectives are met.
- Identifies and develops prevention and intervention services and programs related to Grant goals and objectives.
- Assist in the development, coordination, and administration of student support programs as outlined in the grant.
- Serving as a support and consultant to schools to address student social, emotional, and wellness needs.
- Engages and integrates community partners, parents, and students.
- Develop and maintain MTSS/Wellness Resources.
- Identifies school culture and climate best practices, shares and supports implementation in other schools.
- Assists with developing positive school culture and climates through the provision of targeted support, professional development, and wellness events.
- Coordinates mental health prevention and intervention activities, supports and programs with appropriate school-based staff and district office staff.
- Connects families, schools, and communities to increase engagement and involvement in planning and implementing school and community programs for school-aged youth.
- Helps school-aged youth develop skills that will promote resilience and promote pro-social behaviors; avert the development of mental and behavioral health disorders; and prevent youth violence.
- Coordinates referral services and follow-up with school-aged youth and their families.
- Support improvements in school-aged youth and family-serving systems including improving the quality of school-based services, use of trauma-informed approaches, and social-emotional learning.
- Serves as a technical resource to teachers, other school personnel, parents, and community stakeholders regarding health & wellness support services.
- Provides consultation to school wellness teams on strategies that facilitate students' development and their ability to successfully deal with social-emotional barriers, crises, or traumatic experiences.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials, and evaluation of service
