POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ebony E. Prophet-Bullock, Ed.D., is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a valid NYS Physical Education teaching certificate and be currently employed with the Buffalo Public Schools. Candidates must also hold a valid (not expired) Lifeguard certification.
- Candidates must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of either African American, Latinx, or Indigenous American history and culture and demonstrate a willingness to receive professional development in these areas.
- Must hold certifications in posted specialized areas (Swimming/Red Cross certified or equivalent)
- Candidates must produce proof of Lifeguard certification
- The MBK/ MSK Academy will run from November 2026-June 2027. Teachers will provide a full day of instruction and/or supervise programming for our Saturday Academies from November 2026-June 2027
- Attend informational staff meetings as scheduled on Wednesday evenings in the week of Saturday Academy
- Assist students in creating a culmination project to be displayed/presented at Urban Forum
- Preference given to teachers working with MBK/MSK programs during the after-school program
- Preference given to teachers with prior CLRI training/experiences
RESPONSIBILITIES:
My Brother’s / Sister’s Keeper Saturday Physical Education / Lifeguarding Instructors shall report to the MBK/MSK Saturday Program Building Principal and the Director of CLRI.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver curriculum for My Brother’s Keeper / My Sister’s Keeper program(s).
- Attend training related to anti-racist pedagogy and culturally and linguistically responsive classroom instruction.
- Participate in curriculum development sessions to ensure a rigorous, relevant, culturally responsive curriculum.
- Guide students through highly engaging inquiry-based learning experiences using hip-hop, music, lyrics, and culture whereby they will be able to integrate their personal narratives within their respective historical and cultural contexts.
- Provide swimming instruction for students with varied levels of ability
- Serve as a Lifeguard while students are in the pool.
- Integrate Physical Education instruction and wellness activities
- Teach Business Skills, Financial literacy, Entrepreneurial skills
- Collect data to measure program efficacy.
- Manage instructional supplies and materials.
- Chaperone students on local field trip experiences and facilitate field taxonomies that will expand student learning of topics.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the building Principal, the Director of CLRI and the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and personal interview.
