POSITION: Textbook Inventory Specialist - Provisional
SALARY: $56,170 - $66,268

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This position is responsible for the physical inventory and distribution of Textbooks and other instructional materials. Duties involve the organizing and managing of textbooks/modules for academic programs, the employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction and receives guidance from the Supervisor of Libraries. Supervision is exercised over personnel assigned.
Typical Work Activities
- Ensures district policies regarding textbook control and distribution procedures are followed.
- Assist with scheduling meetings with District content area directors and administrators to plan district textbook needs.
- Receive and track discrepancies related to purchase or receipt of textbooks.
- Assists and instructs district employees in the proper organization of textbook storage rooms within the various schools
- Reviews and responds to inquiries or concerns regarding textbook distribution and takes appropriate action to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Checks textbook purchase orders and packing slips for ISBN, description, quantity and price; identifies errors and reports appropriate details to Supervisor
- Responsible for scheduling pick-up, processing, delivery and storage of textbooks
- Travels to various District locations to recover unused/ surplus textbooks
- Assess damaged books and report on appropriate quantity for following year
- Assists with physically preparing shipments, physical inventory, packing of surplus and organizing storage rooms
- Ensures schools are using mandated and board approved textbooks
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Requires the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.
- Requires the ability to use technology to input, edit, and format data and information
- Ability to be trained in the use of personal computers, data terminals, etc.;
- Knowledge of modern methods used in tracking and distributing inventory
- Ability to prepare required reports and maintains appropriate records.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to bend, lift, climb and stand for long periods of time;
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
Minimum Qualifications:
High School, GED or Equivalency Diploma. In addition, a minimum of two (2) years experience with inventory, and/or organization/collation of records or data is preferred
