NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

DATES: JULY/AUGUST 2026 Number of Days/hours to be TBD
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have New York State permanent teacher certification in Special Education and have 3-5 years of successful classroom experience in an urban school district or must be New York State certified in Social Work and have a minimum of 2 years of Social Worker experience. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to Special Education and extensive knowledge of Individual Education Program development. Candidates should have experience with Frontline IEP including maintaining and accessing reports and listings. Experience in customer service, training and writing technical documents is preferred.
Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order of summer school seniority. Summer school seniority is defined as previous years of BPS summer employment in a classroom setting. Only current and active BPS employees earn summer school seniority.
DUTIES:
The Committee on Special Education Chairperson/Parent Coordinator responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as liaison between families and District Administration and staff
- Serve as liaison between the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) and the school district
- Collaborate with parents to resolve issues or concerns
- Provide information regarding community tutoring programs, and tutoring available at area colleges
- Link parents with organizations and agencies throughout WNY that provide services and support to students with disabilities
- Provide information on the CSE process, and the continuum of special education programs and services within District schools
- Assist in obtaining various printed publications regarding special education law and related topics of interest
- Links parents with appropriate personnel to answer questions concerning their preschool children to their college bound children
- Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate

Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Summer School are eligible to work for ONLY ONE of the summer programs.
APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interview shall be scheduled where appropriate.
SALARY: As per the current BTF contract for daily rate
