 NOTICE OF POSITION

 

POSITION:
The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Will Keresztes, Ed.D., is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

COMMITTEE ON PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION
CHAIR/HELPING TEACHER
CENTRAL CSE

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have New York State permanent teacher certification in Special Education and have 3-5 years of successful classroom experience in an urban school district. A minimum of 1 year experience chairing CPSE/CSE meetings preferred. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to Special Education and extensive knowledge of Individual Education Program development. Candidates should have experience with Frontline IEP including maintaining and accessing reports and listings. Candidates must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Experience in customer service, training and writing technical documentation preferred.

LOCATION:
Central Committee on Preschool Special Education

DUTIES:
The Central Committee on Special Education Chairperson responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize, implement and oversee all Central Committee on Special Education processes OR Central Committee on Preschool Special Education processes as outlined in Commissioner’s Regulations and Federal Law for timely and exemplary implementation
  • Verify that student responses to intervention are documented by staff prior to referral, monitor Individual Education Plan compliance and provide the administrators with solutions to maintain compliance
  • Assist in the appropriate development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan
  • Support all teachers with strategies for effective Individual Education Plan implementation
  • Use data systems to update pertinent information
  • Provide placement information to students and families, when necessary
  • Follow procedures for service provision or placement of students
  • Communicate with special education administrators, parents, and Student Support Team members, as appropriate
  • Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate.

APPOINTMENT:
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
