NOTICE OF POSITION


POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

 

CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR THE 
HIGH SCHOOL SKILLS BASED COURSE CURRICULUM
TO SERVE AS NEEDED FROM JANUARY 1, 2022 - SEPTEMBER 1, 2022

       
Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Curriculum Committee are eligible to work during the summer and/or after school.  They cannot exceed 3.5 hours per day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area of English Language Arts (7-12), Social Studies (7-12), Mathematics (7-12), Science  (7-12), CTE (7-12) Special Education (7-12) or ENL (7-12).
•    Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers who currently work  with High School Level students and/or who have worked with a Skills Based course.
•    Candidates must have knowledge required skills to be successful in High School:
        o    Examples of learning skills
                    Organization
                    Time management
                    Multitasking
                    Strategy development
                    Critical Thinking
                    Problem Solving

                    Note taking
                    Academic Writing and Research
                    Effective Communication

•    Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and demonstrate leadership and interpersonal communication skills with adults.
•    Candidate must have computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel).
•    Candidates should have a strong vision related to academic perseverance for our students.
•    Candidate must be able to work on the curriculum a minimum of 3 days a week for 3 hours each day, at times requested by the curriculum administrator.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•    The Curriculum Team will work directly with a curriculum administrator to create a half year course. 
•    Committees must complete a variety of assignments within a mandated time frame.  Assignments include but are not limited to evaluating instructional materials and developing pertinent curriculum documents aligned to Standards. 
•    Committee members will participate in professional development to increase knowledge and skills required to fulfill responsibilities of related committee work.



APPOINTMENT:  Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent  Interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.


SALARY:                Teacher hourly rate based on BTF contract.
